Shaun was born in Culpepper, VA in 1980.

He graduated from Winder Barrow High School in 1998.

Shaun enlisted in the Air Force in May 2002 in his personal response to the atrocities of 9/11.

Shaun completed his basic training at Lackland AFB, TX.

Shaun's training saw him complete a two year pipeline for combat control which included extensive training in demolitions, survival, air traffic control, airborne operations, scuba, close air support and more.

Shaun was stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL and McChord AFB, Tacoma, WA.

Shaun was deployed to Iraq in 2007 and Afghanistan in 2007 and 2008.

While deployed in Afghanistan Shaun was injured by an IED on July 31st, 2008 and became a bi-lateral above knee amputee.

Shaun recovered and rehabbed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland for a year. He began walking at 2½ months post injury and running 6 months post injury

Shaun returned to McCord AFB, WA.

Shaun retired from service with the Air Force Jan 5, 2011.

In June, 2010, Sgt Meadows became the first active duty double amputee in Air Force history to parachute from a military aircraft.

Shaun and his family moved to Tennessee where they currently live.
